Pioneering Work with the Home Office

Elizabeth Green, a leading figure at EG Age Assessments Training & Consultancy, was among the first Independent Social Workers contracted by the Home Office Pilot Community National Age Assessment Team. Her contributions were pivotal in establishing the National Age Assessment Board (NAAB), which now oversees all age assessments. Her role involved working closely with Local Authorities across the UK, ensuring their age assessments adhered to the stringent Merton Compliance standards until May 2023.

Extensive Experience with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)

Elizabeth’s dedication to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) is evident in her extensive work in this area. She has conducted initial assessments at UASC hotels, where she often served as the Team Leader, overseeing the well-being of both the children and the support staff. Her experience includes:

  • Arrival and Initial Assessments: Welcoming UASC at the Port of Dover and conducting thorough initial assessments to determine their needs and appropriate support.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Leading teams at UASC hotels, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and that the children receive the best possible care.
  • Community Integration: Supporting the integration of UASC into the community, helping them adapt to their new environment with sensitivity to their cultural backgrounds.

In-Depth Experience in Child Protection and Court Teams

Elizabeth’s career spans over 30 years, both qualified and unqualified, with a significant focus on refugees since 1994. She has worked in various capacities and roles across different continents, from Africa to Europe. As a Senior Social Worker for various Local Authorities, she has been at the forefront of safeguarding children and young people. Her roles have included:

  • Front-Line Child Protection: Handling complex cases and ensuring the safety and well-being of children at risk.
  • Residential Care for Looked-After Children: Providing care and support for looked-after children and UASC in residential homes, creating a nurturing and secure environment.
  • Court Team Expertise: Working within Court teams to present detailed assessments and evidence, ensuring that children’s best interests are represented in legal proceedings.
