EG Age Assessments Consultancy: Bridging the gap between Social Work and Law

Meet Elizabeth Green

Elizabeth Green, an accomplished expert in age assessments, founded EG Age Assessment Consultancy. Her background in law and her social work degree make her uniquely qualified for this role. Elizabeth was one of the pioneer Independent Social workers contracted by the Home Office Pilot Community National Age Assessment Team, which paved the way for the National Age Assessment Board (NAAB) to oversee all age assessments. She has assisted several Local Authorities throughout the UK, ensuring that their age assessments are Merton Compliant until May 2023.

Elizabeth also worked as an independent social worker, where she conducted short-age assessments for the Home Office Kent Intake Unit (KIU) in Dover until January 2022, when case law guidance on short-age assessments changed. Her role transitioned into assisting Local Authorities with full Merton-compliant assessments.

Experience in working directly with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking children (UASC)

Additionally, Elizabeth supported the Home Office’s Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) hotels by conducting initial assessments. She occasionally served as the Team Leader, overseeing all UASC and support staff during her shift.

Experience in working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Young persons:

Her experience working with UASC has been extensive, covering their arrival at the Port of Dover, their stay at UASC hotels, and their integration into the community. In handling age assessments, she exercises care and compassion, especially when dealing with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. She has gained a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and is dedicated to promoting the unique identity of young people.

She adopts a non-judgmental approach when conducting age assessments and is known for her fair, empathetic, child-centred, and Merton Compliant assessments.

Broad experience in working with children and young people:

Statutory experience: Elizabeth worked as a Senior Social Worker for various Local Authorities in the front-line child protection and Court teams. Her expertise lies in caring for looked after children and UASC in residential children’s homes, a field she has been involved in for over 15 years, even before being qualified.

Experience in completing other specialist assessments

Regarding assessments: Before, she had been employed as an Independent Social Worker where she performed a variety of specialized assessments for the Court. These assessments included Initial assessments, Parenting assessments, Child & Family Assessments, Core assessments, Single assessments, Human rights assessments, and Special Guardianship Assessments.
